A Turn For The Better
Posted: 8th October 2009
The last few days have been remarkable for me. I guess the fact that I played so well at Turning Stone has everything to do with it.
The good news, even though it is not official at the moment and we will have to wait for the end of the season to get a confirmation, is that I have possibly secured my PGA Tour card for the 2010 season.
The final round of 8-under par 64 at the Turning Stone Resort Championship helped me finish tied seventh. That should help me earn enough money for the season to be inside the top-125 of the 2009 PGA Tour Money List. From what I have been told, the 125th player this season should earn around $700,000.
The top-10 finish also clinched me a start at Justin Timberlake’s tournament in Las Vegas next week. So, not only do I get to play Timberlake’s event, I also do not have to spend my time doing nothing. If there is any doubt about the 2010 card, I would like to settle it in Las Vegas and then the Frys.com Open the week after.
Thereafter, I am shifting my focus to the European Tour and the Race to Dubai. I am playing the Volvo World Matchplay in Spain, and I believe I am the first Indian golfer to qualify for the exclusive tournament in its almost 50-year history.
We have the Presidents Cup this week in San Francisco and I am rooting for the International Team. The feeling of disappointment on missing out still lingers, but that’s already past history, and I don’t want to think about it. I am just looking forward to a great tournament and I wish Captain Greg Norman and his men all the best against the Americans.
